Listen to "The Shard" by Solar Fields while you immersive yourself in Cascadia:
Mirror's Edge Catalyst (2016) takes place in the futuristic City of Glass, where ruling tech corporations yearn for total population control. Our protagonist Faith is a runner, delivering information used to topple the corporatocracy.
Glass feels like a real city, its distant streetlights shimmering in the night. High-profile characters speak with convincing animation. Virtual strangers move along scripted paths on streets far below, providing the illusion of life.
I captured the following 360° stereoscopic images using a feature of my Nvidia graphics card: Nvidia Ansel. Supported by only a handful of games, Ansel let people capture in-game spherical photos from anywhere in the virtual world, and in 3D.
I don't know how many people used this feature, but it can't have been many. Nvidia has removed Ansel from its newer Nvidia App. And after thorough searching, I can only find one example of an accessible 360° screenshot from Mirror's Edge, and it can't be viewed in 3D.
I love this game, its world, and its soundtrack. I wish to keep the spirit of the game alive with these screenshots.
You can view these images in VR if you are looking at this gallery using a compatible VR headset.
